PLAYGROUND is a choreographic device that activates community engagement processes through a perspective of permeability with the ecosystem.
PLAYGROUND focuses on the body, the relationship between dance and the natural landscape, and the encounter between professional performers, children, and elderly people. Bodies with different rhythms, dynamics, and postures intersect into an aesthetic and ritual experience, generating a landscape within the landscape.
The choreography emerges from the confrontation between human movement and the complexity of spatial planes and volumes. The dance focuses on the perspectives and lines of force of the landscape, inviting the observer’s gaze toward openness and distance.
The paintings of Bruegel the Elder and the cinema of Tarkovsky become entry points into choreographic research in relation to nature, questioning the boundary between composition and reality. The working group is recreated each time through a workshop open to the local communities of the host territory, specifically children and elderly people. Five performers from OPERABIANCO meet and work together with the participants. After six days of practical and theoretical work, the audience is welcomed to share the experience.
Playground is our playing field.
